Pixel Animation

In my animation practice I have created movement such as moving the eyes in a circle and a walking cycle.
The walking cycle was slightly more difficult to make but the finished piece looks okay. I had to use slightly different shades of colour to make it look like the arms and legs are moving.
In the Goku animation I have implemented a whole lot more movement than the first pixel drawing. I found animating this fun and enjoyable to do. This made me want to carry on animating the character.

The movements I have are: fighting stance, jumping, fighting and a mixture of both whist he is in the air. I found animating this easy.

I would love to do an animation like this again (Possibly in the 2D game we have to make). I think animation is one of my strong points as I have the concentration and patience to do it. In the future I may attempt to do 3D animation in my spare time to get some practice.

I created these animations in Game maker, slightly changing some of the animations to my own style. I chose Game maker to do the animations on because I found it easier to work and put the animations together unlike Photoshop were I struggled to find the timeline and create a stable and working animation. The "create a sprite" option was easy to find and it came with all the necessary options.

The purpose of making animations from ready made sprites was to use them as practice, getting ready for the real thing.

However, making these animations I encountered some issues with the speed and smoothness. On one of the sprites the animation was jumpy and didn't look smooth at all. This was fixed with most of the animations but some wouldn't work smoothly.
